Messier 81 oder nach ihrem Entdecker, Johannes Bode, der sie 1774 erstmalig beobachtet hat auch „Bode’s Galaxy<\/strong>“ genannt, ist kleiner als unsere Milchstra\u00dfe und rund 12 Millionen Lichtjahre entfernt im Sternbild „Gro\u00dfer B\u00e4r“ zu finden. Ihr zentrales Schwarzes Loch ist aber mit rund 70 Millionen Sonnenmassen weit massereicher als jenes im Zentrum unserer Galaxie mit 4 Millionen Sonnenmassen. Au\u00dferhalb der Galaxie ist der sogenannte IFN<\/strong> – intergalactic oder integrated flux nebula zu sehen, eine sehr, sehr schwach leuchtende Mischung aus Staub und einigen Elementen wie Wasserstoff und Kohlenstoff.
